Midsummers Day Bliss

What can a look bring?
A man’s courage?
A woman’s strength?
I will shed a tear
But I will laugh so much more

Eli and Megan met in college during dorm icebreakers. Megan caught Eli’s eye like rain to the ground. I remember seeing him clench his hands, working up the courage to talk to her. It took a push, but Eli didn’t stop, he kept walking toward her.

I think there is something beautiful in that simple story. Isn’t it timeless? We’ve heard it, over and over but does it ever get old? That tale of a string pulling two people together and the courage and strength to intertwine their hearts, their souls, their lives.

Their wedding shouted the happiness that their relationship always silently spoke. Traditional in all the ways that mattered, but playful and summery and golden everywhere else. Dandelion dresses on the bridesmaids, a bright summer day and so much joy. It was so palpable you could almost taste it.

Eli and Megan worked hard to make the day theirs, giving each other pre-ceremony notes and gifts. When he saw her walking down the aisle, he cried. I think every photographer wishes for grooms like that. I wished only for Eli and Megan to give each other that each and every day after that beautiful afternoon.

They really showed their sunny personalities, having wild glasses, goofy dances and accepting the most heartfelt and humorous speeches from their best man and maid of honor.

They made me fall in love with private dances. The guests had filtered out, it was just them. I was able to sneak a few shots from the door as they swayed in the fading afterglow of their sunny day.

They’ll never forget that feeling, now. They’ll have it forever.
